Video Poker Payoffs
The payout schedule on a video poker machine tells you exactly
how much each winning combination of the cards will pay. The
tables are located at the top of the machine screen in plain view
and it pays to compare these with other casinos machines whether
it's land based or online casinos. The odds of a machine are set
at a fixed amount and do not vary as some believe. If you compare
two machines side by side you could see that even identical
machines can have different payouts. Usually a video poker machine
will pay out no less than 90% and many pay out an average at above
100%. You're chances of hitting a Natural Royal flush are about
40,000 to 1. And it does happen!
To be a successful Video Poker player you need to know how to
read and identify the best payout machines. Look for machines that
pay 9 to 1 for a Full House, 6 to 1 for a Flush. Anything less is
a waste of your time and money and will only result in a bigger
loss on your part.
Full House / Flush Return = Approximate Machine/Game Return
9-1 for a full house and 6-1 for a flush = payout of 99.5%
8-1 for a full house and 5-1 for a flush = payout of 97.4%
7-1 for a full house and 5-1 for a flush = payout of 96.3%
6-1 for a full house and 5-1 for a flush = payout of 95.2%
Online casinos offer their payout tables on their websites or
within the casino for anyone to view, and if you compare you will
notice that there can be as much as a 2% variance between similar
machines but different casino software providers. A standard rule
of thumb is that Jacks or Better has a better payout, followed
sequentially by Aces and Faces, Deuces and Joker Wild, Ten's or
Better, Joker Poker and finally Deuces Wild.
The best tip for Video Poker is to always bet the maximum coin
on the highest denomination that you can. This lets you take
advantage of the best payouts for the winning hands. If you play
progressive video poker machines, this strategy puts you in the
running for hitting the progressive jackpot on that machine. Look
for progressives that pay 80% of the full payout amount.
